A Note From Dave

Dave Ferguson

LEAD VISIONARY

“…I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things…”

These were Jesus' words to his closest followers in John 14:12; promising them that His Spirit would work through them in such a powerful way that they would do even greater things than Jesus did. And they did! Empowered by the Spirit, his disciples took the gospel to places Jesus had never been. They reached people Jesus never reached, and they gave life to a church that would bring the good news to the ends of the earth!

As I read through the 2023 NewThing Annual Report, I see Jesus' Spirit at work doing “even greater things.” This year alone, we were able to start and sustain 1,059 church planting networks and helped plant 22,663 new churches!

I hope every page of this Annual Report causes you to be grateful and express gratitude to God for how He is at work doing “even greater things” though NewThing!

Stories from

around the world

One of our leaders, Brother A. Raja continues to serve and make significant kingdom impact in the Visakhapatnam area in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Bro. Raja, who goes to different areas and villages to spread the gospel and meet new people, in the year 2020, he came to know about a community called Gavara. Gavara is an unreached people group and known for being Hindu extremists, living without the gospel. When Bro. Raja went to this village for the first time, there were no believers in that area and the people living there had never before heard the name of Jesus.

The people of this village are known for their strong extremism against other faiths, especially Christianity. Amidst these challenges, Bro. Raja, along with his fellow outreach ministry leaders Bro. Zechariah, Bro. Akula, and Bro. Joseph started to visit this village on a regular basis.

As our leaders visited the Gavara community, they found a family through a young believer. This family showed interest as our leaders visited them and tried to build relationships and pray for their community. Our leaders went to their house, prayed for their family for a few weeks and continually visited them. As they had visited they shared gospel to some of the families. Among them, one of the heads of the family, whose name is Mr. Naidu, opened up his family’s house for prayers. Because of his family’s provision, our leaders are able to conduct gospel outreach in this village and are able to reach other families and communities connected to this family. Now, these families have been baptized and have church gatherings to attend. Through their testimony God changed their life from idol worshipers to followers of the one true God. Many people are now being attracted to the proclamation of the gospel.

Unreached Community Transformation

Because of our leader’s continuous efforts, Bro. Raja and his team have planted three house churches where 15 families have come to faith and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Please continue to pray for our leaders who are taking the gospel with a bold heart in such difficult areas and transforming lives for eternity. We hope to soon cover our target places with the gospel as the waters cover the ocean and find more houses of peace which would serve as a center for spreading the gospel.

dear friends on mission:

Greetings from the NewThing team.
As we take time to reflect on the tremendous tragedy that we see happening daily throughout the world, we are convinced more than ever that the answers and remedies being offered are insufficient.

God’s answer to all that’s wrong is the Good News of Jesus Christ offered via the local church, the Body of Christ. The church is not perfect, but it’s still the best thing going. That’s why NewThing is committed to the reproducing and multiplication of the global church. Thanks to you, our donors, our Friends on Mission, NewThing is able to bring movement of churches all over the world. We are both grateful for what you have given to our mission in 2023 and also expectant of how we will partner in 2024. Our job is not close to being done.

Thanks for being our friend.
